ILP #2 "Design"

For my ILP #2, I used the website Canva and designed a class schedule. For my schedule, I used a first grade curriculum. I put the time the class begins and when it ends. The schedules are not the same everyday, but are similar day to day. This website has great templates for teachers to use. I wanted to design a class schedule because it is helpful for teachers and students to have their schedule printed out and displayed before them. Also, I liked the simplicity but appeal of the colors and design. https://www.canva.com/design/DACoP4nmYu0/share?role=EDITOR&token=gkwUcpPnDp8y-vzjtVNtXw&utm_content=DACoP4nmYu0&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link&utm_source=sharebutton

For me, I want to teach younger students, like Kindergarten through second grade. When using Excel tools, it will be helpful for me to track students and their reading levels. For example, if I want to check a student's progress on how many words they can read per minute, every month or so I can count the number of words they read per minute and record them. After a few recordings, I can see if the student is improving, staying the same, or not improving. Also, instead of just tracking one students reading skills, I could track my whole class's reading skills and find the average number of words the students can read per minute, and then keep doing this throughout the school year to see if by the end of the school year they are reading more words per minute. I think that my favorite blog post was the one where we had to incorporate our websites that we created. Everyone had so many different styles and tastes, as well as grade levels and subjects. I loved getting to look at ev...

The Flipped Classroom refers to a delivery model that us currently used in grades K-12. This approach began when they began making lectures available to absent students and expanded to flipping the way that students and their teachers spend time in the classroom. Instead of students coming to class and listening to their teacher lecture and then doing homework on the content of that lecture, the students instead will listen to a pre-recorded video lecture for their homework before coming to class. In this model, what traditionally happens in the classroom is now pre-recorded and and delivered as homework outside of the classroom by technology. Thus, this makes students go from being passive listeners to active listeners. I had never heard of this model before, but after learning about it, I see how this can be helpful. It is super stressful as a student to go into class, focus on writing down notes about the lecture while also participating. With this model, it eliminates a lot of stre...

Adaptive technologies are different forms of technology used to fit students' different learning styles. Adaptive technologies can be extremely helpful for students who have learning disabilities, and need a different way to learn than other students. Honestly I don't think I have seen anyone use adaptive technologies, but I think a common one that may be used in the classroom is word processing. It's for the students who do not possess fine motor skills and cannot hold a pencil or pen and write legibly. So this technology allows them to create legible documents without having to hand-write them. In Bloom's Taxonomy, there are six levels in the pyramid. The first level is knowledge. This is essentially recalling facts and information. So for example, if a teacher was using a PowerPoint to teach geography, she could go through the different states and countries and get the students to recall some of them and locate them. Next is comprehension. This one could be used to...

ILP "Design" - PowerPoint

For my ILP, I made a PowerPoint presentation in the form of a flyer. This sounds weird since a flyer is usually a single piece of paper or pamphlet. One my PowerPoint, I basically made each slide a piece of information needed for the flyer. My presentation was for a first grade field trip to the zoo. One each slide, I gave brief information about what was happening, what was needed, and why this field trip was happening. I think this can be helpful for when teachers have a parent-teacher night. Rather than handing out a bunch of flyers, the teacher can project this PowerPoint for all parents to see. The PowerPoint does not have a lot of words, so it's not like the parents are going to be reading something super fast and trying to retain a lot of information. This presentation is basically a deconstructed version of a flyer. Flyers need to be appealing, brief, informative, and to the point. I added in colorful, fun images to liven up the presentation. In flyers, it is helpful to use...

Honestly, I am not having any issues with Twitter yet. I think it has been kind of fun and interesting to use for class. I think everyone in class is seeming to have an easy time with it. It has been an easy and effective way to communicate with other students in our class, and it is nice to see how other people are doing on assignments and such. I think it was fun to see everyone's reaction to the Tech Sandbox. I think we all had a pretty good time and we got to take some fun pictures and videos to tweet. I had never designed a webpage before so I went into it pretty intimidated. I created a Weebly and started out with that, but then created a Wix to see if that was any better. I stuck with Weebly and ended up creating my webpage on that site. Some things were harder than others when creating the site. Sometimes it wouldn't let me expand pictures like I wanted to, or change the font/font size. Other than that, nothing was too hard. I think it was a good experience because I d...

I went on my high school and elementary school’s websites, and unfortunately neither of them had class pages. It honestly took me a while to find a somewhat decent one. I went to Leon High School’s website and found a link the Teacher Websites and clicked on that. They list all the teachers and once again, it took me a while to find a teacher who actually wrote something. I ended up finding this teacher on the website. There are a few categories under each teacher’s name and I clicked on “Meet the Teacher”. The teacher I chose is a math teacher and she started teaching at Leon in 1993. She talked a little about her family and mentioned that she graduated from FSU. At the end of her description, she gave her email and told parents and students that they could contact her or meet her after school for extra help. The link is https://www.leonschools.net/Page/16932 Honestly, I didn’t really know that teachers would post class pages on the school’s website, but I think it’s a good id...
